My thoughts on the Lakers’ trades.

Damn, Derek Fisher got traded to the Rockets for Jordan Hill. Honestly, I don’t know how to feel about this. It’s obviously beneficial to the team’s current progress and future, but the sentimental value that he had on the Lakers franchise is huge. I’m not blind though. I know he can’t keep with up Derrick Rose, Deron Williams, or any other elite point guard for that matter. At least, not like he used to. A lot of people forget that when Fisher came back to the Lakers from the Jazz a few years back, he was a great on-ball defender.

I’m reading online that the the Rockets will try to buyout Fisher’s contract. Maybe he’ll be able to sign with the Lakers again for the minimum. He came into the league with Kobe Bryant as rookies and it looks like they won’t be finishing their careers with each other. Regardless, they won 5 championships together. He’ll definitely be missed.

Ramon Sessions

Definitely an upgrade at the point for the Lakers. In limited time with the Cavaliers, he has an average of 10ppg and 5 assists. Put him as a starter for the Lakers he’ll easily average 15 and at least 7-8 assists. He’s a knockdown shooter and with Bryant, Bynum, and Gasol waiting? Well, it’s gonna be a huge boost in his stats and wins for the Lakers. He isn’t a prolific scorer like Westbrook and Rose, but the Lakers don’t need that. They have Kobe Bryant and the Twin Towers to do that work.

I’m going to say this now — assuming the Lakers gel well together with Ramon Sessions — The Lakers will go deep into the playoffs. Maybe even the Finals.

Maybe even ring #6 for Kobe Bryant.
